Happy Thanksgiving!

No advertising, no health tips (except don't overeat!)….I just wanted to take a moment to say thanks for follThanksgiving2owing our blog and to extend a reminder of the feelings and thoughts we should carry with us today.

Today is  a day to just sit back and ponder over all of the things that we have to be greatful for and should be greatful for and I'm not referring to material items such as high-tech toys or big fancy homes and cars. 

I'm talking about the stuff we do not talk about every day to everyone. Things like being thankful for:

  • Those in the military, men and women alike who are not home with their families today enjoying turkey and pumplin pie but stationed in a foreign land fighting for and protecting our country from the injustices of the world. Protecting us from those lost soles who have no value of life and the lives of others.
  • Those who have given their lives in countless wars and battles so that we can enjoy our freedom.
  • Also, the local heros such as our law enforcing police officers who are so abused constantly by the ignorant people in our society as they, the cops continue to serve and protect us.
  • Our firefighters who dedicate thier lives to save ours.
  • Our children, mothers, fathers, wives, husbands and grandparents for being there for us as well as each – in there own way – striving to be someone of value during thier time on this earth. The appreciation that we really have for the ones we love is so overlooked so often. 
  • Our freedom of speech, and religous beliefs as well as the freedom to do and be anything that we want to be.

So, set today aside and enjoy those who you love and those who love you and care for you and put the other 364 days of the year out of your mind. Take a moment to help someone in need today and be happy that we have the freedom to be able to enjoy this Thanksgiving day.

2015-01-04_1653_Water_FountainDid you know that there are forty six basic reasons that your body requires water? And, that repairing your body from a cellular level is extremely effective?

Water along with certain needed trace minerals will provide you with unbelievable health benefits and healing. Ask yourself a couple of questions; do I ever get a work related headache or stress headache? Instead of popping an aspirin or a pain killer…next time two or three 8 once glasses of purified water and notice the pain disappear!! How about joint pain ranging from you’re your fingers to your knees to your toes? You got it! Drink a couple of glasses of water!

My own consumption amounts to 2.3 liters of water per day. My goal is to reverse my Diabetes-II and part of the cure is plenty of water.

Did you know that there is no sane reason why tens of millions in our society should be medicated when all they suffer from is dehydration? Are we still in the dark ages?

Before I continue, I must point out that although the above statements may seem a bit harsh; it is not my intention to reflect badly upon the thousands and thousands of dedicated professionals in the healthcare system today who show their compassion on a daily basis. However, someone needs to be blamed for the injustice that is going on. If you did not see my last post…check it out and you’ll see what I’m talking about!!
I am referring to the fundamental errors that are being made in standard treatment protocols in medicine today. In a book entitled, “Water for Health, for Healing, for Life”, author F. Batmandhelidj, M.D. states, and I quote; “The blame is directed at the medical professionals in powerful positions and the national health institutes that have the power to correct the problem, but have shown reluctance to do so.” The book goes on to say that the underlying reason which causes their reluctance to correct the problem is mainly because they do not want to allow natural solutions to the health problems of our society to get clearance and reach the public. In other words, healthy people are not profitable to the pharmaceutical industry!

This article, however, is not about who’s responsible for this maddening “Planet of the Apes” mentality that’s draped over our healthcare industry. It’s about all the good things that water can do for all of us.

I’m sure that you are aware of the fact that your cells need to be hydrated on a daily basis – if not on an hourly basis. Also, most people today are walking around in a state of almost total dehydration. As you allow yourself to dehydrate, your body will begin a slow-down process of your metabolism. As this slowdown process continues, two things will happen; first, as your metabolism slows down, so does the fat burning process and second, you now become a target for increased effects of toxicity to start to build up in your body’s cells. The majority of your body is made up of water as you know and your brain is itself requires a very significant amount of water as well in order to perform at its peak level. Water is needed to help with the natural detoxification process. Just one of the 46 reasons for ample hydration is that the proper amount of water intake helps your body to create a chemical known as Serotonin that works as a neurotransmitter. It is manufactured in the brain and the intestines (10% to 20% in the brain & 80% to 90% in the gastrointestinal tract). Did you know that your intestines house more neurotransmitters than your brain? Hence the expression; go with your “Gut Feeling”!

Both losing weight and becoming fitter requires excellent hydration. When we do not supply our bodies with enough water, our bodies “built in self-defense” will begin to hold on to most any fluid that you consume and you end up suffering from “fluid retention” or bloating. This causes weight gain for one thing.

On a cellular level, your cells are affected in a negative way without enough pure water because other fluids that you are consuming will be lacking the trace minerals that your body needs to function properly.

Once you begin to hydrate yourself properly and I’m suggesting 2.3 liters per day for men and about 2 liters per day for women, your body will begin to bounce back. The fluids that your body has been holding onto (most not good) will get flushed out and then the bloating and fluid retention will decrease and you will start to lose some weight.

Will Your Medicine Kill You Or Heal You?



Your medicine probably won’t kill you right away unless you OD on it but I feel it will in due time – little by little, especially when you start mixing different medicines together.

I remember way back when I was first told that I had to take a pill or two for high cholesterol and that was 30+ years ago. Funny thing… I did not feel bad (physically) at all when the meds were prescribed to me. I felt a bit nervous that I was told I had a problem (at such a young age).  I had no feelings or discomfort related to this new daily requirement – taking a pill. Nor did I exhibit any physical problems that showed in the mirror or to my friends and family. It was a number from the results of my blood test.

Way back then…that’s what you did! Your doctor told you to start taking pills so you just did what he said. Then as time rolled on, the doc says…I’m beginning to see a rise in your blood pressure so I’m going to prescribe another pill for you. Then more time rolled on and I was told that it looks like your Blood sugar is on the rise so I will prescribe yet another pill for you and I want you to start taking one “Baby” aspirin everyday as well.

So now, 30 to 40 years have passed and I’m still taking pills. None of my so-called ailments have disappeared – they are just being “controlled” or “managed.” There is something funny going on here and I feel like the stooge or Guinee Pig. If you cut your hand, you can watch as the body heals itself.

It is my belief that if I was never prescribed that first medication, I wouldn’t be where I am today – a pill popper and a slave to Big Pharma! The body can heal itself whether you are talking about a cut on your hand or high blood pressure!!

I have been taking medications now for around 30 to 40 years and I’m embarrassed to say that…what I have refused to believe about “Medicines” is possibly very true!

All my life I have been taught to “trust in your doctor” and that he is here to help you and not harm you. I learned all about the Hippocratic Oath many years ago, that the docs take when they are turned loose – after their initial education – which is a declaration proclaiming that they are to care for their patients and not harm them! I also learned through research – many years later that for the majority of doctors continued education appears to come from well-dressed medicine sales persons sent out by Big Pharma and not from academic academies or Universities.

The Hippocratic Oath stems from an ancient Greek Physician – Hippocrates (c. 460 – 370 BC) who was considered to be one of the most outstanding figures in the history of medicine. One of my favorite quotes from Hippocrates is; “let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine by thy food.” He is referred to as the “Father of Western Medicine”.

It’s funny what a couple thousand years or so will do the basic idea behind what Hippocrates believed in and the effect centuries have had on the meaning of the Hippocratic Oath and what apparent influences big pharma (the pharmaceutical organizations/drug manufacturers) apparently have over our health care industry including hospitals, doctors and brick & mortar pharmacy businesses!

What’s the reason? We all know – it’s MONEY!! And, I for one am a victim and as I stated in the beginning of this post, “I’m embarrassed to say that…what I have refused to believe about “Medicines” is possibly very true!” With each additional hour, day, and week of research I invest in – more and more info is surfacing and revealing more proof.

For me, it’s NOT just the personal embarrassment that I feel but the violation of my personal health…I’m extremely angry. Right now, in September of 2015, I simply do not know if all of the cellular damage to my body can be reversed or not. I do know that as of this writing I am proclaiming that I will be fighting this personal battle towards improving my personal health “like there is no tomorrow” and become another person to prove to the masses that we can win this battle!

Did you know that globally, big pharma grosses almost a Trillion dollars on drug sales of pills and medications and in the U.S.A. alone, the total annual sales in a recent report was in excess of $340 Billion dollars! Did you know that most all prescription drugs are prescribed only to “mask” and “control” conditions? In the U.S.A. alone, there are over 81,000 salespersons who peddle drugs for the pharmaceutical companies? It is Big Time Business.

Do you think that they want you sick or healthy? Healthy people do not need medication!! The answer is easy to figure out. I could go on and on quoting sales figures and other statistics but I won’t.

If you are in a dilemma as to what you can do to get away from their “grip” on you – perhaps, I can enlighten you! My hope is to offer you some helpful advice regarding what I call “the truth about medicine” and to coax you into investigating it further for your own sake and that of your loved ones.

This whole problem began to show its ugly face to me only after a ton of damage was already occurred.  To think that it all started with one little pill!

Perhaps it’s not too late for you to get actively involved in taking better care of yourself so that 35 years from now you’ll not be saying I wish I would have taken action sooner.

So, by now you are saying …okay Les – what’s your angle here. There isn’t any. I’m hoping that YOU take a close look at yourself and see where you are in this pill crazy world and consider a more natural approach to health remedies. The SECRET to Weight Loss & Anything Else

A Spring Walk-RIt was around 12:15 pm on Sunday, March 20, 2011 and I was preparing for my daily 5-Mile Trek when our daughter-in-law, Jamie arrived at our home to pick up my wife Suzan for some Sunday activities. One grandson and a granddaughter were waiting out in the van for their mom and grandma. I was all decked out in my hooded, bright yellow rain suit as it was 36° out with a 16 mph wind and a cold, hard steady rain. As my daughter-in-law Jamie, entered our home and saw me, I noticed her rolling her eyes with a half-smile and half-laugh on her face as she looked at my wife Suzan and commented “He’s determined”! I said, hello and see ya later as I walked out the door!

On the way out, I stopped at the van to say hello to my grandson Alex and (almost 11 year old) Meghan. Meghan exclaimed, “You’re not going out in this terrible weather—are you?” I replied by explaining that the weather is always beautiful as long as you dress properly for it. I then said goodbye to both of the grand-kids and off into our first spring thunder-snow-storm of the year I went! A Spring Surprise!

As I was trekking through the hard rain/snow mix that was slapping me in my face with all the fury that Mother Nature could muster up in her efforts and attempt to discourage me from accomplishing my “daily goal” of reaching my five miles, I began to ponder over the most recent reactions displayed by my family as I faced the elements to do my walk today. Then I thought of a lengthy conversation I had the night before with a co-worker (a nurse) who had recently purchased from me, one of my most popular diet programs. This young woman wanted to shed some weight and she was not experiencing any success. (This conversation will justify another article concerning personal commitment)

Both of these experienced conversations clearly demonstrated to me just how important “Self-Determination” is to any endeavor. You can offer the best and most complete information on proper nutrition including pre-planned “meal plans” and even an easy test on how to determine your own “Metabolic Type” and UNLESS the person is truly desiring the changes to occur in his or her life—it will never happen. And I mean that you must have a burning desire to achieve the results.

Should I wait for a 72° day with blue skies and birds chirping to get my 5 mile trek in? Well, if I did wait I would still look and feel like the “Pillsbury Dough Boy”! I would not have lost the 70+ pounds that I have lost over the last 15 months. All too many people (95% to 97%) fail to see the importance and the necessity to employ personal discipline that IS REQUIRED to develop and utilize the skill known as “Self-Determination”.

All Things Start Out As Dreams, Thoughts Or Wishes

How do you get from Point A to Point B? You take your dream, thought or wish and turn it into a GOAL. A Goal is nothing more than an accomplishment that is the end result of a Strategic Plan of Action (SPOA). If I would have attempted to lose over 70 pounds without converting it to a GOAL, it would have never happened. With a SPOA, you can take that 70 pounds and in your plan, know that it is only 4.67 pounds per month or 1.04 pounds per week or about 6-1/2 oz. per day of weight loss! Does that change the perspective? You bet it does.

People…need to become mentally strong in order to make their dreams or wishes come true. Not being determined is like trying to make beans and rice and forgetting to add the rice. Without following every detail of the RECIPE you’ll end up with just the beans!

Losing weight and becoming fit is more than just about knowing the right foods to eat and what type of exercises to do. It must have the following ingredients as well:

  • You must have a Strategic Plan of Action.
  • You must have a clearly defined “end result” in mind.
  • You must have an idea of all the resources that you will require and have access to them with books, audio, video and other people (mentors, coaches, etc.)
  • You must establish a “Date of Completion”.
  • Most Important: A Burning Desire and Focused Discipline to enforce your Self-Determination to move ahead – One Day at a Time, Step by Step. Success is a Cinch by the Inch and Hard by the Yard!

Over all of my years, I have learned that EVERYTHING starts with the muscle that all of us have between our ears—our BRAIN.

Our brain has unlimited capabilities and will take you wherever you want to go if you will only allow it to guide you. You are the only person that can stimulate your own self-discipline thus leading you to self-determination and accomplishing your Goal. Do you want to be victorious? It’s all up to you and YOU alone! (In weight loss, I guess a Loser is a Winner!)

Be prepared. Another observation I have made over my many years is that people such as me who have mastered the art of Self-Determination have a slight tendency of “standing out in the crowd” or appearing to be rather unique. Had I not been standing in my kitchen looking like a huge “canary” (in my rain gear), I probably would not have gotten the “eye-roll” from Jamie but there I was—looking like somewhat of a dork… I asked myself – but, how many other people while having a choice of either sitting in front of a warm, toasty fire watching a movie, or walking around the community dressed up like “Big Bird” – walking up and down hills with the cold wet rain slapping you in the face—would have make the choice I did?

Probably – not many. But then, there-in lies the difference between accomplishing your goal or not. I can (and did) sit in front of a cozy fire later as I stared at the numbers on my pedometer instead of “wishing” that I would have taken action!!

On another occasion, in another season – You would find me dressed similar to a Sherpa in the Himalayan Mountains in Tibet, trekking through 3 foot deep snowdrifts in a blizzard. I was not attempting any type of added “drama”. I was just “dressing for the weather.” However, it must have appeared somewhat dramatic as there were a few folks that did stop their vehicle and grab a photograph of me!

You know, it’s kind of funny when you think about it. I can go back over a half a century ago and think of when my Dad picked up a guitar for me that cost him a whole $7 because I indicated that I wanted to become a musician just as I entered my teens!

I actually remember my thoughts at that time in my life! Do understand that I completely appreciated receiving that instrument and I understood that the $7 invested in it was outside of my family’s budget…I remember the words that I constantly repeated over and over to myself every time I picked up that guitar to practice. I would repeat to myself these words: “If I can master playing this guitar with a neck like a log, just think how good I will be able to play a far more expensive one.”

When I think of the first time I have ever used any kind of or form of stimulation to motivate myself to reach for a goal…I think of myself at 13 years old sitting in my bedroom, practicing that old $7 guitar which I might add…did ultimately lead to bigger and better things as an accomplished musician in a popular R&B group….but that’s another story!

So, keep this in mind: “Self-motivation = Self-determination which will pave the way for Goal Setting which will equal accomplishing a Positive Objective in your life!
