I think that the actual thought, planning and implementing of a well-balanced life is a major pre-requisite to everything else in your life that you want to achieve. Things like a Healthier Lifestyle or a Fitter You!
You can’t just start out with a goal focused on one area of your life and then suddenly begin to attack that goal. I think that all of us, somewhere in our mind, tend to forget about the one non-replaceable thing that we all have – TIME. Yes, there are only 168 hours in a week – that’s a fact. Time is a constant and will keep moving on – with you or without you. Do not worry about the things you cannot control. But with time – use it wisely. You cannot ever replace it or get a “refill.”
Looking at your life or lifestyle, the first thing to do is to take what you have; sort out the good and the bad. Then, get rid of the bad and focus on the good things. After that, look at your life and understand that it too, like all things in nature, requires a “balance.” You can’t have ALL play nor can you or should you have ALL work.
Here are four ingredients to assist you in designing a better life. A life that will move and flow easily towards total happiness and personal satisfaction:
- Focus On Your Priorities
- Live Healthy
- Have Written Goals
- Live in the moment
Focus on Your Priorities: With all of our high tech forms of communication today, it is very easy to get distracted. Make it a point every morning to jot down or place in your “digital whatever”, the 3 or 4 most important items that you NEED or would like to accomplish today. I am referring to those things that when completed…will benefit you the most. Then start at the top of this list and work on the number one thing until it is completed. Then, go on to the next item. You’ll find that by following this program on a daily basis – each and every day that you’ll begin to accomplish a lot more in your life. Learn to do the right things at the right time! You may not finish all that’s on your list today but now you have you’re starting point for tomorrow!
Live a Healthy Life: Without optimizing your health, this whole success process could become more difficult than you may want it to be. And, that could become discouraging. You must immediately begin to take your health seriously each day from here on out. Aside from nutritious food and that is a topic in itself, the two most important parts of good health are (a) ample sleep and (b) plenty of water. Make sure you get at least 7 hours of sleep every night and during your waking hours follow this formula for your water intake; take half of your weight (let’s say you weigh 200 pounds) thus 100 would be half and you then would start out be drinking 100 ounces of water on a daily basis. Formula: ½ of your weight in pounds = converted to ounces = your required daily water intake. Did you know that most people are walking around dehydrated?
Have Written Goals: I have been working with goals now for over 30 years and the one thing that is 100% true is that they MUST BE WRITTEN DOWN! Also you need to create a definite plan of action and a deadline. This deadline can be adjusted as needed. Set up a few written affirmations that you will actually read aloud when you get up and again before you go to sleep. Stay focused on that goal as much as you possibly can during your waking hours. It MUST become an obsession. Soon, as you sleep, your subconscious mind will be working on this and as you awaken, try to remember as much as you can from your subconscious…write it down immediately and put those generated thoughts into motion. You’ll be amazed how well this technique works. The more you work at this, the more effective this becomes.
Live In The Moment: Live each second to the fullest whether at work or play. If you are reading or texting and someone asks you a question or wants to provide you with a thought or information…stop what you are doing and look them straight in the eyes and LISTEN. Give them all of your attention. Take in and digest each word and then ask for clarification if there is any doubt in your mind about what was said. Again…write it down for reabsorbing later.
You will begin to notice changes within a few days in your life and you’ll begin to realize your plans and objectives coming together. Continue with these four strategies and your dreams will come to fruition!
